NetBird is a German software company building an open-source zero-trust network security platform designed to be accessible and affordable for teams of all sizes. Since launching on GitHub in 2021, NetBird has grown to serve hundreds of thousands of users and machines worldwide, replacing traditional centralized VPNs with modern, secure private networking solutions.
You will own full-cycle talent acquisition across Engineering, GTM, and Operations as NetBird scales. Currently, founders and hiring managers handle most recruiting themselves; you'll take this over end-to-end, from initial role planning through offer close and onboarding handoff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage complete hiring cycles for technical and GTM roles, from kickoff to signed offer
- Proactively source for hard-to-fill technical positions (Go, networking, platform, security) via GitHub, open-source communities, events, and your network
- Conduct initial candidate conversations and serve as the trusted point of contact throughout the process
- Partner with hiring managers to refine role definitions, build interview scorecards and loops, and ensure consistent feedback
- Own job postings, interview planning, pipeline management, and reporting
- Track key metrics (time-to-hire, pipeline conversion, offer acceptance) and identify process improvements
- Leverage NetBird's open-source presence to build employer brand and attract talent
- Collaborate with founders on offer negotiation and candidate closing
This is a hands-on role in a small team where you'll run searches yourself and shape how hiring operates as the company grows. You'll work closely with the Chief of Staff and all team leads.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2–5 years of full-cycle recruiting experience with significant technical hiring, either at a recruiting agency or in-house at a startup or scale-up
- Proven track record sourcing and hiring software engineers, ideally for backend, infrastructure, or security roles
- Technical curiosity sufficient to understand what engineering teams build and distinguish strong profiles from keyword matches
- Data-driven mindset: use metrics to improve process, not just report on it
- Strong written and verbal English communication; ability to write outreach that gets responses
- AI-native working style: daily use of AI tools for sourcing, screening, and outreach; clear understanding of where they add value and where they don't
- Comfort operating in a fast-growing environment where processes are still being built
Nice-to-haves: experience hiring for open-source, developer tools, infrastructure, or security companies; GTM hiring (Sales, Solutions Engineering, DevRel); European hiring including relocation to Berlin; building employer brand or talent communities from scratch.
