Salary: USD 196,000 - 270,000 / annual

Skydio is seeking an experienced Systems Integration and Test Engineer to own the definition, integration, verification, and failure analysis of autonomous flying robots. This role sits at the intersection of hardware, sensing, and real-time AI software, ensuring product reliability across defense, public safety, and infrastructure applications. Key responsibilities include: - Defining comprehensive, testable system requirements in partnership with product managers, designers, and developers, establishing standards adopted across programs - Guaranteeing system performance and product integrity through architecture definition, design reviews, and component selection - Defining cross-functional system behaviors and telemetry to optimize lifetime performance and field diagnostics - Performing product bring-up and performance verification during new product introduction - Acting as first responder for early system failures, triaging cross-functional issues across mechanical, electrical, embedded, and autonomy domains - Analyzing massive flight telemetry and field analytics datasets to inform risk assessments, prognostic maintenance protocols, and future mitigations - Implementing processes and tools for efficient product development, including test infrastructure, system maturity tracking, and accountability systems - Operating independently on ambiguous, cross-disciplinary problems, often defining the problem statement alongside solving it Required experience includes 6+ years in hands-on definition, design, analysis, testing, and delivery of highly reliable electro-mechanical systems in rapid development environments. Strong systems-engineering mindset with ability to work across mechanical, electrical, and software domains. Proficiency in test design, design for reliability principles, physics of failure, and integration risks of critical electronics (PCBAs, motors, batteries, cameras, compute modules, sensors). Technical skills in Python, SQL, and AI tooling for dataset analysis and system automation. Demonstrated track record of setting technical direction or process standards adopted beyond a single team. FAA Part 107 certification strongly encouraged within 60 days and required for certain positions.
