Salary: EUR 54,000 - 68,000 / annual
Cloudflare operates one of the world's largest networks spanning hundreds of data centers across 190 cities globally. The Network Engineering Team is responsible for building and running the infrastructure that powers Cloudflare's software platform. This role sits within the network automation engineering group, which focuses on developing software solutions to improve network resilience and reduce operational toil.
As a Systems Engineer in Network Automation, you will work on a range of tools, infrastructure, and services—both new and existing—with the goal of elegantly and efficiently solving problems while delivering practical, maintainable, and scalable solutions. You'll leverage AI tools and automated assistants to streamline daily workflows and collaborate with a talented team of network automation engineers.
Key responsibilities include developing software components for network automation, designing and implementing infrastructure solutions, working with modern development practices, and contributing to the operational excellence of a massive global network. You'll engage with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, observability systems, and distributed systems architecture.
Required qualifications include a BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience, 3+ years of proven experience developing software components for network automation, proficiency with Python and/or Go, strong Unix/Linux expertise, SQL database experience (MySQL, Postgres, Clickhouse), familiarity with CI/CD and containerization technologies, and experience with observability platforms like Prometheus and Grafana.
Bonus qualifications include networking engineering knowledge (Layer 2/3 protocols, Cisco/Juniper equipment), experience building and maintaining large distributed systems, and experience managing internal and external customer requirements. The role emphasizes curiosity, iteration, and leveraging AI as a partner in solving complex technical problems.
