CesiumAstro develops advanced communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and aerospace platforms. The Skylark product line focuses on rapid design, build, and test of cutting-edge active phased array antennas (AESA) for terrestrial and airborne applications, spanning high-power ground terminals for missile defense to commercial airline and helicopter connectivity solutions. As a Systems Engineer II, you will lead systems engineering activities across the full product lifecycle—from concept and design through integration, verification, launch, and operational support. You will translate mission objectives and customer requirements into technical solutions that enable successful system integration and mission execution. You will work within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, collaborating with software, hardware, mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, integration and test, mission operations, and program management teams. Your responsibilities include developing system verification and validation strategies with appropriate verification methods (test, analysis, demonstration, inspection) and acceptance criteria; defining verification configurations including hardware, software, firmware, and test environments; developing and maintaining verification documentation, requirements traceability matrices, and verification cross-reference matrices; partnering with Integration & Test teams to plan and coordinate system integration and verification activities; evaluating test results and supporting corrective actions; supporting technical planning and Program Increment planning; prioritizing systems engineering activities to meet technical, cost, schedule, and milestone objectives; participating in technical reviews, design reviews, and customer meetings; mentoring junior engineers on systems engineering best practices and technical documentation; and driving continuous improvement of engineering processes and documentation. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline - Minimum 2 years of experience with emphasis on space-based communication payloads - Strong knowledge of systems engineering principles and systems development lifecycle - Experience developing, managing, and verifying system and subsystem requirements - Knowledge of systems architecture, interface management, systems integration, and configuration management - Understanding of verification, validation, and systems integration processes - Ability to interpret customer requirements, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), and technical specifications - Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills - Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail - Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills - Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary engineering teams - Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, or refugee, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: - Familiarity with spacecraft mission planning, launch support, and on-orbit operations - Experience supporting spacecraft system integration, mission readiness, and operational activities - Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated engineering programs
