Infleqtion is a global quantum technology company seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join their Kidlington, UK site. You will play a pivotal role in transforming quantum hardware prototypes into manufacturable and scalable products, working at the intersection of physics, hardware engineering, and systems integration.
Key responsibilities include leading systems engineering for quantum product development, including system-level design and requirements capture. You will develop and maintain core systems engineering documentation (PRDs, SRDs, ICDs) with full traceability from requirements through implementation and verification. You'll define and execute modeling, simulation, and analytical activities to support design, verification, validation, and lifecycle performance.
You will coordinate assembly, integration & test (AI&T) and verification & validation (V&V) planning, including processes, procedures, test strategies, and engineering support with a multi-disciplinary team. Collaboration with physicists, engineers, and product teams is essential to support development of system architectures. You'll identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks, assumptions, and dependencies while supporting reliability analysis. The role also involves contributing to and promoting best practices, tools, and continuous improvement in systems engineering across programs.
Required qualifications include a Master's or PhD in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field (or equivalent industry experience). You need significant systems engineering experience (ideally 10+ years) within complex, multidisciplinary, high-tech or hardware environments. Proven experience across the full system lifecycle—requirements management, system architecture development, and verification & validation—is essential. Experience with product lifecycle processes for R&D projects in deep and emerging technologies is required, along with strong technical documentation skills and cross-functional team collaboration.
Desired skills include experience with complex systems combining mechanical, electrical, RF, optical, and software components; quantum technologies, precision instrumentation, or optical systems; AMO physics and quantum control systems; and experience in regulated or high-reliability industries such as aerospace, defense, or medical devices. Up to 10% travel may be required.
