Expel is seeking a Systems Engineer to manage and maintain IT infrastructure and services across the organization. This role is critical to ensuring Expel's cloud-based IT operations remain secure, highly available, and efficient. You will own the full lifecycle of IT systems—from cloud platforms to on-premises equipment at the Herndon headquarters. Key responsibilities include managing employee access across the lifecycle (onboarding/offboarding), owning large cross-functional projects end-to-end, automating manual processes, and providing technical support to internal teams. Specific duties include: - Managing enterprise SaaS platforms (Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Jira, Confluence, Microsoft 365) - Automating integrations using Workato, Okta Workflows, or Microsoft Power Automate - Administering macOS and Windows systems with MDM tools (Jamf, Intune) - Managing network infrastructure (Cisco Meraki, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, wireless) - Overseeing conference room AV and shared-space technology - Implementing AI tooling (Claude, Gemini) to accelerate operations - Collaborating with security teams on information protection - Building documentation and contributing to team roadmaps You'll work in two-week sprints against quarterly and yearly goals, balancing interrupt-driven support with strategic projects. The role requires strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences. Required qualifications: 5+ years professional IT experience, 2+ years in engineering or sysadmin roles, proficiency with enterprise SaaS and automation platforms, knowledge of authentication protocols (SAML, OIDC, OAuth 2.0), scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ruby), and IT operations best practices. College degree or equivalent experience required.
