Salary: USD 146,000 - 194,000 / annual
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the Maneuver Dominance team at their Costa Mesa headquarters. You will lead critical capability development for an advanced airborne platform, focusing on wholistic support system thinking to shape air vehicle development and novel operations and sustainment approaches.
In this role, you will execute a right-sized, Agile Systems Engineering approach for the Thunder Mission System and Payloads development, operating at velocity to fly new designs within months. You will support design teams in evolving Technical Performance Measures throughout the design process and contribute to System Design Reviews, Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and Safety Review Boards.
Key responsibilities include owning and maintaining Functional Decomposition, System Breakdown Structure, Product Breakdown Structure, and Architecture diagrams. You will develop critical Systems Engineering artifacts such as System Description Documents and Interface Control Documents. You will champion the Test and Evaluation Master Plan to enable Mission System and Payload maturation, shape Hardware In Lab and Hardware In The Loop physical integration environments, and coordinate configuration and change management processes.
Additionally, you will support wholistic Systems Safety and Airworthiness efforts, participate in build, ground, and flight testing of prototype and production representative Thunder Mission Systems, and conduct Physical Configuration Audits and verification-related tasks.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering (or equivalent), plus 4+ years of industry Systems Engineering experience with safety-critical hardware and software systems in Defense or Aerospace. You must demonstrate proficiency in developing traditional and right-sized Systems Engineering artifacts, deep understanding of test and evaluation processes, and familiarity with technical software packages such as Teamcenter, JIRA, JAMA, Cameo, and Ansys. Experience with crewed or uncrewed developmental autonomous aircraft (Group 5 UAS or larger) is required. Exposure to relevant guidelines and standards (ARP-4754, ARP-4761, DO-178C, DO-254, JSSSEH, MIL-STD 882E, etc.) is desirable. You must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance in the United States, United Kingdom, or Australia.
