Datadog's Technical Solutions Operations (TSO) team owns the ecosystem of enterprise platforms and internal tools that power the company's 1,200+ sales engineers, support engineers, and solution architects. This Systems Engineer 2 role offers the opportunity to own enterprise platforms end-to-end—from understanding business processes and designing solutions to measuring impact in production.
You will be the technical owner for one or more critical platforms (Zendesk, Jira, Confluence, and purpose-built tools) that the Technical Solutions organization depends on daily. Your responsibilities include assessing system usage, identifying gaps, understanding vendor roadmaps, and driving improvements from conception through implementation.
Key responsibilities:
- Own enterprise systems through their full lifecycle, driving improvements and understanding where systems fall short
- Engineer solutions that create leverage: build integrations, automations, and internal tools that multiply the effectiveness of 1,200+ technical experts
- Contribute to the Datadog codebase when needed, collaborating with Engineering teams on TS-specific features and shipping capabilities
- Use AI coding tools (Copilot, Claude) as part of your daily workflow to ship faster and explore unfamiliar systems
- Partner with TS leaders to understand business problems and engineer practical fixes that get adopted
- Monitor, maintain, and iterate on systems in production, diagnosing issues and optimizing performance
Required qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience with enterprise platforms and production software (Salesforce, Zendesk, Jira administration, extension, or integration)
- Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript
- Full-stack capability: backend services, frontend, API design, CI/CD pipeline setup
- Daily fluency with AI coding tools and ability to articulate their impact on your workflow
- Experience building AI-powered features (LLMs, embeddings, RAG pipelines, agent frameworks)
- Systems thinking and ability to design reliable, maintainable, scalable solutions
- Experience contributing to large shared codebases with established engineering practices
- Background in technical support tooling or customer-facing business systems preferred
- Experience in high-growth B2B SaaS environments preferred
