The Sustaining Engineer role bridges Support and Engineering, serving as the technical escalation point for complex customer issues. You will take end-to-end ownership of technical problems that standard support cannot resolve, working hands-on to reproduce issues, analyze application behavior, logs, APIs, integrations, and customer data.
Key responsibilities include investigating and diagnosing customer issues, joining customer calls to understand problems, debugging using technical tools and data, analyzing logs and API requests, determining root causes (product bugs, configuration issues, environmental limitations, or usage problems), and escalating confirmed bugs to Engineering with clear evidence and reproducible steps. You will remain involved throughout the issue lifecycle, supporting further investigation and validating fixes.
This is a technical role requiring strong hands-on skills. Experience with browser developer tools, APIs, JSON, logs, SQL, authentication, integrations, scripting, and reading application code is highly valued. You will identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to product reliability, observability, troubleshooting, and support processes, bringing valuable customer feedback to the development team.
