Crusoe is a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company that owns and operates the full stack from energy generation to AI compute delivery. As Director of Sustainability, you will lead the integration of sustainable design standards and construction practices across Crusoe's Digital Infrastructure Group, combining deep technical expertise in green building with strategic leadership across corporate sustainability initiatives.
You will work cross-functionally with internal design, engineering, real estate, and construction teams, as well as external architects, engineers, and contractors to embed sustainability from project inception through delivery. Key responsibilities include leading implementation of sustainable design standards across digital infrastructure projects, monitoring and improving key data center metrics (PUE, WUE, CUE), and supporting sustainability due diligence for new data center developments.
You will own the strategy for measuring and reducing embodied carbon across projects, drive adoption of whole-life carbon assessment methodologies, and engage with suppliers and industry groups to advance low-carbon material availability. You'll evaluate and implement technologies that enhance energy, water, and operational efficiency, including AI-driven energy management, water reuse systems, high-efficiency mechanical/electrical systems, onsite renewable energy, and grid interactivity strategies.
Broader responsibilities include supporting development of the company's sustainability strategy across energy, water, waste, biodiversity, and supply chain; contributing to sustainability reporting (GHG inventory, ESG disclosures) with focus on Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions; shaping communications for diverse audiences including executives, engineers, clients, investors, and community stakeholders; and managing relationships with third-party consultants, certification bodies, and sustainability vendors.
You bring 8-12 years of progressive experience in sustainability, environmental management, or ESG strategy, with deep knowledge of data center energy consumption, cooling systems, and operational efficiency metrics. You have strong expertise in sustainability reporting frameworks (GRI, SASB, CDP, TCFD), experience leading GHG accounting and lifecycle assessments, and familiarity with green building certifications (LEED, Green Globes). You excel at stakeholder management, translating complex environmental data into clear narratives for diverse audiences, and managing multiple initiatives simultaneously across geographically distributed operations. Travel up to 15% required.
