Salary: USD 191,000 - 253,000 / annual
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Support Systems Engineering Lead to join the Thunder team at their Costa Mesa headquarters. Thunder is an autonomous air vehicle (AAV) that combines vertical takeoff and landing with advanced attack capabilities, powered by a hybrid-electric powertrain and Lattice OS for mission autonomy.
In this role, you will architect and lead the design and development of comprehensive support systems covering deployment, supply, operations, and maintenance. You will hire, develop, and grow a hands-on engineering team focused on practical support system solutions. Key responsibilities include collaborating with customer stakeholders on operational concepts, conducting 'Day In The Life Of' decomposition activities to influence air vehicle and mission system design, and designing transport and handling equipment for rapid deployment in challenging operational environments.
You will identify appropriate standards and interfaces for supply systems such as fueling and charging, leverage emerging technologies to develop maintenance systems and training approaches, and collaborate across the division to drive consistent support system approaches. You will also develop and own the Thunder Project Reliability and Maintainability Plan.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline, plus 10+ years of experience in aviation, aerospace, or product development environments. You must have familiarity with systems engineering, first-hand experience in operational environments performing logistics, maintenance, or training roles, and a strong focus on design and operational safety. Experience with high-voltage systems, batteries, hybrid powertrains, defense industry background, or military service is highly desirable. You must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance in the United States, United Kingdom, or Australia.
