As an early member of the supply chain team, you will define and execute the strategic roadmap required to scale from prototyping into full-rate production. You will identify and develop suppliers across multiple commodities (machined components, electromechanical systems, shielding, thermal management, turbomachinery, fuel, and others), proactively mature fragile or nonexistent supply chains, interface with engineering teams on design for manufacturability, and create the processes and systems necessary for business scaling.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define strategic roadmaps for select commodities
- Identify and onboard suppliers to support both prototyping and full-rate production
- Engage with engineering and manufacturing teams on design for manufacturing feedback
- Coordinate with quality teams on supplier onboarding, compliance, and nonconformance resolution
- Develop logistics supply base including couriers, carriers, freight forwarders, and specialty material transportation
- Create foundational processes and systems for supply chain planning, procurement, supplier onboarding, accounts payable, materials management, and shipping/receiving
- Develop performance metrics and reporting for critical path management
- Execute near-term actions for prototyping and development hardware to meet engineering and testing milestones
The role requires executing in an ambiguous environment, balancing multiple priorities, and wearing many hats to influence areas beyond supply chain. You will work in Torrance, CA in a 322,000 square-foot facility with easy freeway access.
