Fuse Energy is a venture-backed energy startup ($200M+ raised from Balderton, Accel, Creandum, Lowercarbon, Ribbit, and others) building an integrated energy system combining solar, batteries, grid infrastructure, AI, and distributed energy solutions for consumers. The company operates globally with a focus on direct-to-consumer energy delivery to reduce costs.
You will be the founding Supply Chain Lead in China, reporting directly to the co-founders and owning end-to-end supply chain development and operations in the market. This is a 0-to-1 build role with significant autonomy and strategic responsibility.
Key responsibilities include:
- Take complete ownership of supply chain development and management in China, building the function from scratch while maintaining alignment with global operations
- Drive localized New Product Introduction (NPI) cycles from concept through mass production, owning the full RFQ process
- Develop and manage the strategic supplier and purchasing footprint in China, securing factory capacity and optimizing bills of materials with top-tier OEMs and ODMs
- Enforce quality standards and track performance across multiple external manufacturing partners, conducting deep audits of production lines
- Partner closely with co-founders, finance, and R&D teams to ensure regional execution and global integration
- Serve as the primary communication interface between Chinese technical and manufacturing ecosystems and UK headquarters
This role requires a hands-on operator with deep technical hardware expertise, proven success in complex supplier negotiations, and the ability to work in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM discipline from a top-tier university
- Proven track record in procurement or strategic sourcing within clean-tech or parallel technical hardware industries (electric vehicles, advanced electronics, semiconductors)
- Experience managing OEM/ODM relationships, including capacity negotiation and accountability
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical components, specifically PCBAs, power electronics, or battery packs/systems
- Ability to enforce stringent quality standards and deliver under compressed timelines
- First-principles problem-solving approach to ambiguous challenges
- Fluency in both English and Mandarin (written and verbal)
- Proficiency in Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, multi-tab workbooks, cost breakdowns, and supplier comparison summaries
- Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team
