Oyster is a global employment platform that enables companies to hire, pay, and manage talent anywhere in the world. This role is fully remote but requires you to be based in Spain.
You will lead Oyster's occupational health and safety (HSE) compliance and strategy, with a primary focus on Spain's regulatory requirements and a secondary global remit. This is a high-impact position combining deep technical compliance expertise with strategic vendor management and cross-functional leadership.
SPAIN-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, implement, and manage Oyster's Internal Prevention Service (Servicio de Prevención Propio) to meet Spain's occupational risk prevention regulations
- Conduct workplace risk assessments and investigate work-related accidents and occupational illnesses
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for Spain-specific HSE questions and escalations from internal teams
- Prepare health and safety reports, conduct safety measurements, and advise on protective measures
- Represent Oyster during Labor Inspection visits and manage relationships with HSE vendors in Spain
GLOBAL HSE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate on HSE policies and procedures tailored to Oyster's fully remote work environment
- Lead global health and safety audits and inspections; support H&S committees worldwide
- Conduct remote risk assessments across regions, implement mitigating measures, and monitor the global remote safety program
- Investigate and document global incidents, implementing corrective actions
- Stay current with global HSE regulations and integrate safety considerations into remote work processes
VENDOR & OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT:
- Own day-to-day relationships with key HSE and compliance vendors globally
- Manage vendor lifecycle including onboarding, KPI/SLA governance, performance reviews, and offboarding
- Act as escalation point for vendor-related issues, coordinating investigations and resolutions
- Analyze vendor performance data and trends to identify improvements
STAKEHOLDER SUPPORT & PROJECTS:
- Build HSE content, documentation, and training resources for internal teams
- Lead cross-functional HSE projects as subject matter expert
- Support escalations involving workplace safety or regulatory concerns
- Continuously improve workflows, leverage AI/automation responsibly, and analyze ticket trends to build preventative resources
REQUIREMENTS:
- Significant, deep technical knowledge of Spain's occupational risk prevention regulations with proven experience setting up or managing an Internal Prevention Service (Servicio de Prevención Propio)
- Experience or strong comfort supporting health and safety frameworks across multiple countries/regions in a remote environment (EMEA, APAC, LATAM, AMER)
- Pragmatic, commercially minded approach to compliance; ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical advice for remote workforces
- Strong communication skills, comfortable with escalations, advising senior leadership, and training internal teams
- Proven track record of independently driving cross-functional HSE initiatives from conception to execution
- Deep experience sourcing and implementing vendors in the HSE and Compliance space
- Bachelor's degree in environmental health, safety, engineering, or similar field
- Master's degree in Occupational Risk Prevention (Técnico Superior en Prevención de Riesgos Profesionales) with all three specializations
- Full English proficiency (C1 level or above)
- Reliable home internet connection
