Salary: USD 120,000 - 190,000 / annual
Harbinger is an American commercial electric vehicle (EV) company transforming the medium-duty EV and hybrid market. This Supplier Quality Engineer role focuses on Low Voltage components, wiring harnesses, radars, cameras, and electromechanical assemblies.
You will serve as the liaison between Harbinger and its suppliers, ensuring all components meet technical specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. Key responsibilities include:
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with company and industry quality standards
• Conduct supplier audits (process, product, and system) to assess and qualify new and existing suppliers
• Develop and implement supplier performance metrics including defect rates, response times, and process improvements
• Work with suppliers to develop corrective and preventive action plans for nonconformance issues
• Establish and validate supplier processes for LV wiring harness, box build assemblies, cameras, and radars, including assembly line setups, PCBA manufacturing, gauge design and approvals, first article inspection (FAI), and production part approval process (PPAP)
• Conduct incoming inspections and quality checks of LV wiring harness and components
• Review and approve supplier documentation such as control plans, FMEAs, deviations, and inspection reports
• Ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and industry standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100)
• Participate in supplier selection by providing quality-related input
• Lead weekly calls with suppliers to ensure parts meet quality and timing requirements for production line build stages
• Participate in design reviews with engineering and manufacturing teams to mitigate manufacturing and assembly risks
• Monitor and report on supplier performance metrics (defect rates, delivery times, specification compliance)
• Investigate and resolve quality issues related to supplier materials and components
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supplier quality and performance
• Lead Material Review Board (MRB) meetings and act as quality representative for engineering change control board
• Travel domestically and internationally up to 30–50%
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing) or similar technical field (required)
• 3–7 years of experience in manufacturing quality or supplier quality engineering in automotive or aerospace industry or equivalent manufacturing environment (required)
• Knowledge of Low Voltage Harnesses, PCBA manufacturing, cameras, radars, and electromechanical assembly processes related to automotive (required)
• Working experience with IPC 600, IPC-610, IPC-620, USCAR standards (required)
• ASQ Certifications (Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Manager, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, or higher) preferred
• Knowledge of ISO-9001:2018 or IATF 16949 standards strongly desired
• Understanding of quality core tools: Quality Management Systems, Supplier and Internal Audits, APQP, SPC, PPAP, FMEA, MSA
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
• Excellent project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects
• Strong understanding of Low Voltage wiring harness, cameras, radars, and electromechanical box build assemblies
• Proficiency in quality management systems (QMS) and relevant software applications
• Proven experience in quality engineering role within manufacturing or production environment
