Salary: USD 86,000 - 112,000 / annual

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company building next-generation Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) for seabed exploration and maritime operations. The company is executing multi-million-dollar contracts while scaling manufacturing capabilities. You will join the Quonset, RI team as a Supplier Quality Engineer responsible for defining, developing, and executing quality processes for sub-sea components including connectors, wet cables, mechanical parts, and batteries. This role bridges design, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure high-quality, reliable component delivery. Key responsibilities include: - Partner with design teams on design for manufacturability (DFM) feedback, product data generation (drawings, BOMs, test requirements), and supplier quality success for battery systems and power electronics - Leverage expertise in electronics materials, manufacturing processes, and inspection/measurement techniques to support design development and manage technical risks from prototyping through high-volume production scaling - Drive supplier quality development throughout product stages via design reviews, process development, testing, and qualification; review supplier processes and QC capabilities (cell compliance, welded cell block validation, end-of-line outgoing quality) - Partner with development engineering, product quality, sourcing, and program management to deliver predictable supply and manage supplier technical performance exceptions - Develop supplier quality readiness by analyzing key characteristics, measurement systems, and qualification activities (PPAP, FAIR, audits, inspection development) - Collaborate with Global Strategic Sourcing and Product Sourcing Engineering on supplier performance for cost, quality, delivery, and strategic program goals - Own elimination of supplier risk through audits, readiness reviews, training, and documentation to ensure compliance - Support Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and Material Review Board (MRB) activities; own containments from purchased goods - Review supplier effectiveness, share lessons learned, and drive Supplier Corrective Action Response (SCAR) processes - Audit supplier Quality Management Systems for compliance with Anduril and customer flow-down requirements - Lead supplier onsite audits and reviews for contract deliverables and quality management compliance - Travel up to 25% to suppliers, sourcing partners, and manufacturing locations REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar technical field - 2+ years of Supplier Quality Engineering, Quality Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering experience in sub-sea electronics, wet cable manufacturing, and battery manufacturing environments with strong problem-solving skills - Experience in Electronic Top Level Assembly (TLA) and PCBA manufacturing processes, test methods & concepts, high voltage systems & power electronics (preferred) - Experience scaling supplier capabilities and quality from prototype and proof-of-concept parts to low-rate and high-rate production - Experience flowing down Source Control requirements to suppliers - Experience performing First Article Inspection to AS9102 Industry Standard; ensuring suppliers have control plans and inspection processes capable of meeting product requirements; familiarity with IPC-A-610/620, IPC-J-STD-001, and MIL-STD-810 - Experience driving supplier performance and evaluation; knowledge of Statement of Work (SOW), quality clauses, intellectual property (IP), and government regulations such as ITAR - Working knowledge of product development methodologies: Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) elements including Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), quality improvement techniques, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) - Strong ownership mindset with demonstrated capability to drive projects from start to completion - Analytical skills and experience with data mining, data quality, metrics generation, issue management systems, and statistical analysis tools (MatLab, JMP, MiniTab, etc.) - Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Master's degree in a technical field - General understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating application while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance (grounding, fault protection) - Understanding of low voltage and high voltage power electronics and control systems; ability to capture system interconnect diagrams and drive cable harnessing designs with proper wire and connector selection - Understanding of Welding Specifications (AWS D1.2, etc.) - Familiarity with common electrical bus interfaces (CAN, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, RS232/422, RS485, USB) - Understanding of MIL-STD requirements (MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, MIL-DTL-38999) - Competence with test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, current-probes) and test automation - Process Failure Modes Effects and Analysis (PFMEA) experience and developing source inspection plans with qualified inspection process capabilities
