Loft Orbital is seeking a Subcontracts Manager to serve as the primary interface between the company and its strategic supply base. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring Loft delivers on its commitments to customers and stakeholders in the space infrastructure sector.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead evaluation, negotiation, and closure of critical sub-contracts with strategic suppliers
- Manage contract changes (waivers, deviations, addendums, exercised options) and change control throughout the contract lifecycle
- Maintain comprehensive and auditable records compliant with company and contractual requirements
- Review contracts to ensure they reflect applicable technical, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Monitor and report sub-contractor performance against schedule, cost, and quality targets
- Identify, assess, and mitigate supply chain risks, escalating issues as appropriate
- Develop strong relationships internally and externally to facilitate communication, collaboration, and alignment during contract execution
- Support sub-contractor growth and development in alignment with Loft's needs
Loft is a fast-growing aerospace company founded in 2017 that provides governments, companies, and research institutions with end-to-end satellite missions as a service. The company has flown over 30 missions and operates offices in San Francisco, Golden, and Toulouse, France.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must-haves:
- 6+ years proven experience in sub-contract management
- Experience in a company with production/test environment
- Experience procuring electromechanical assemblies and relevant build/test processes
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to work with global teams and communicate effectively
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work autonomously
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence)
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Technical baseline understanding
- Supplier design maturity assessment capability
- Systems engineering literacy
- Program execution integration knowledge (IMS, risk, MR, milestone gates)
- Government/compliance rigor
- Complex aerospace supplier oversight experience
- Make/buy and strategic supplier selection experience
Nice-to-haves:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain Management
- Fluency in French and/or Arabic
- Experience with purchasing/inventory modules in NetSuite
- Aerospace industry experience
- Familiarity with FAR/DFARS regulations and US Government contracting protocols
- Supply Chain or Project Management certification (ASCM, PMP)
