Valar Atomics is a Series A nuclear energy company developing advanced reactor systems and fuel fabrication to enable scalable, clean, high-temperature nuclear power for industrial applications, hydrogen production, and next-generation manufacturing. The company is building a pilot plant in Orangeville, Utah to demonstrate its technology. You will join the Power Conversion team within Engineering as a Structures Engineer focused on turbomachinery static hardware. This is an early-stage role where you'll have direct influence on system architecture and design decisions for power generation turbomachinery. Key responsibilities include: - Analyze static components for structural margins across various operating conditions and transient scenarios - Size components to ensure adequate strength and performance - Select materials that balance technical capability against lead time and cost constraints - Partner with cross-functional teams to define clearance requirements for rotating turbomachinery systems - Contribute to the development of a manufacturable, high-efficiency, robust design You'll work in an environment where autonomy and ownership are valued at every level. This role is ideal for an engineer excited about being part of a complex turbomachinery product from inception, comfortable working in ambiguous environments without pre-defined design best practices, and interested in contributing beyond a single siloed discipline. You'll have the opportunity to influence critical design decisions early in the company's development.
