Verkor is seeking a Structural Modelling Engineer to join the CAE & Advanced Methods team at the Verkor Innovation Center in Grenoble, France. This role focuses on developing, validating, and deploying structural modeling capabilities for lithium-ion battery cells, modules, pack assemblies, and associated components. Key responsibilities include developing finite-element models for battery systems, performing meshing on complex 3D CAD designs, and running structural and thermo-mechanical simulations under static and dynamic events (shock, vibration, crash, durability). You will build surrogate models and reduced-order models from full-order FE models to accelerate design exploration, and validate simulation models against physical test results with documented correlation assumptions and confidence levels. You will construct analysis workflows with product design engineers to support thermo-mechanical design optimization from concept through the product lifecycle, develop physical test and simulation methods for mechanical characterization, and review scientific literature to identify state-of-the-art modeling methods. Collaboration with product development leaders is essential to deliver simulation case studies aligned with project priorities, and you will lead technical investigations, perform diagnostic analyses, and contribute to design review documentation. The role also involves intellectual property development by identifying and documenting innovative modeling methods and design insights. This is a hands-on position requiring both simulation expertise and laboratory experience. Required qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or closely related discipline. 10+ years of experience in structural and thermal modeling, finite-element analysis, and model validation. Proficiency in CAD, meshing, mathematical modeling, numerical methods, and model order reduction. Scientific coding skills in Python and/or Matlab. Experience with simulation tools such as 3DEXPERIENCE, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, or equivalent. Hands-on laboratory experience and physical test interpretation. Project management experience. English required; French is a plus.
