Salary: USD 129,000 - 171,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer to join its Structural Analysis team in Costa Mesa, California. The team ensures product integrity and performance across the company's defense technology portfolio, providing cross-product support for emerging innovations and establishing benchmarks for analysis excellence.
In this role, you will perform static and dynamic structural analyses across sea, ground, air, and space domains using first principles and appropriate analysis methods including hand calculations, spreadsheets, scripts, and detailed finite element analysis (FEA). You will develop and own finite element models (FEM) at both global and subsystem levels, collaborating closely with hardware engineers to drive proper designs based on analytical results.
Key responsibilities include conducting and supporting validation testing with instrumentation setup, data collection, and model correlation; documenting analysis methodology and results in technical reports for internal teams and external stakeholders; ensuring designs meet customer requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations; and staying current with advancements in analysis techniques, materials technology, and industry standards.
Required qualifications include a BS or higher degree in engineering or applied physics with a focus on structures; deep understanding of statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and materials properties; proficiency in FEA software (NASTRAN/Abaqus preferred) for linear and non-linear static, dynamic, and buckling analyses; experience with CAD tools (NX, Solidworks); proficiency in Matlab or Python for developing analytical models, data acquisition, and automation; and the ability to work autonomously and establish scope for ill-defined problems.
Preferred qualifications include 5+ years of experience in structures, dynamics, or loads-related roles with high ownership for hardware outcomes; an MS or higher degree in engineering or applied physics with structures focus; ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance; and ability to develop workflow automation tools.
