Deliveroo is seeking a Strategy & Operations Manager to lead the discovery, investigation, and mitigation of emerging fraud and abuse vectors across its platform. This role focuses on proactively identifying new fraud patterns, vulnerabilities, and evolving threats before they become systemic, rather than managing existing fraud programmes.
Key responsibilities include identifying emerging abuse patterns by proactively scanning for new fraud trends across products and customer journeys; investigating anomalies and translating observations into actionable mitigation strategies. You will build the emerging fraud prevention strategy by defining roadmaps, prioritizing risks based on customer impact and financial exposure, and developing business cases to influence investment in tooling, automation, and machine learning.
The role requires turning insights into action through complex investigations, partnering with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to design scalable prevention mechanisms, and establishing metrics to measure emerging risk and mitigation effectiveness. You will drive cross-functional execution as the central coordination point between Fraud, Product, Engineering, Trust & Safety, Customer Operations, Legal, Finance, and Data Science teams, influencing product roadmaps to embed fraud prevention from the earliest stages.
You will also build organizational capability by developing frameworks for identifying and responding to emerging threats, improving intelligence sharing across teams, and fostering a culture of proactive fraud prevention.
Ideal candidates come from fraud, trust & safety, cybersecurity, payments, marketplaces, fintech, or consulting backgrounds with experience investigating complex fraud and operational risk problems. Required skills include strong analytical abilities with SQL, comfort working with large datasets, structured problem-solving in ambiguous situations, and the ability to influence Product and Engineering teams without direct authority. You should translate technical findings into clear business recommendations and demonstrate strong commercial judgment in balancing customer experience with risk mitigation. Experience in experimentation, machine learning, fraud detection, marketplace integrity, or trust and safety is advantageous.
