Salary: USD 270,000 - 310,000 / annual

Anthropic is hiring a Strategy & Operations Lead for its Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) team. FDE embeds with strategic customers to build production AI systems on Claude, working where no playbook exists yet and turning successful approaches into repeatable patterns for partners and field teams. In this role, you will be the strategy partner to FDE leadership and own the team's business plan: headcount and capacity planning, the mix of work the team takes on, how engagements are priced and measured, and how more work moves to partners. You'll run monthly and quarterly business reviews and build the reporting that leadership uses to make strategic decisions. Key responsibilities include: - Building FDE's annual and quarterly plan covering headcount, hiring by region and role, capacity, utilization, and the mix of commercial, research, and mission-driven engagements - Creating demand, capacity, and staffing models with scenarios for leadership's hiring and prioritization decisions - Leading monthly and quarterly business reviews, setting KPIs, owning the scorecard, and writing materials for GTM and company leadership - Working with Revenue Operations and Data Science to automate engagement, staffing, and outcome reporting; measuring what engagements lead to (production launches, consumption, expansion, partner reuse) - Partnering with Finance, Deal Desk, and Legal on pricing, packaging, discounts, and contracts for FDE engagements; tracking portfolio economics - Building the plan and economics for scaling work through delivery partners, including which engagements partners own, co-deliver, or receive Anthropic advice on - Working with FDE leadership and People on new roles, manager spans, and headcount allocation as the team grows - Leading cross-functional projects spanning Sales, Applied AI, Customer Success, Product, and Research - Using Claude Code and agents to build and automate models, dashboards, and workflows You'll sit on the GTM Strategy & Operations team, dedicated full-time to FDE, working closely with Finance, Deal Desk, Legal, Revenue Operations, Partnerships, Applied AI, and FDE program leads. REQUIREMENTS: Minimum qualifications: - Experience in strategy and operations, business operations, strategic finance, or consulting, including direct work with professional services, implementation, solutions engineering, or forward deployed teams - Understanding of how services businesses make and lose money: utilization, staffing mix, rates, backlog, margin, and their connection to customer outcomes - Ability to build capacity or staffing models from scratch, explain every assumption, and pull data yourself with SQL - Experience running planning cycles and business reviews for senior leaders and writing materials yourself - Track record of taking unclear questions to recommendations, decisions, and processes that other teams still use - Ability to earn trust of senior technical and commercial leaders and influence without direct authority - Comfort working fast with imperfect data and simple processes that you improve iteratively - Current use of AI tools in your own work with desire to push further - Excitement about Anthropic's mission to build safe and beneficial AI Preferred qualifications: - 10+ years in GTM strategy and operations, business operations, or consulting - Experience building operations of professional services or FDE teams through fast growth - Work on services pricing, statements of work, and deal terms with Finance and Legal - Built or managed delivery partner programs including subcontracting, co-delivery, and partner economics - Experience in consumption or usage-based businesses, including tying services work to product usage - Technical fluency to discuss LLM application development (agents, evals, MCP) - Experience with Salesforce and professional services automation (PSA) tools - Background at AI, cloud, or developer infrastructure companies - Experience preparing materials for executive and board audiences Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Field of study should be relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.
