Airbase builds software infrastructure for radio frequency spectrum licensing, coordination, and intelligence. The company is transforming how the military and commercial entities manage wireless spectrum—replacing 20th-century analog bureaucracy with AI-powered, machine-readable systems. Backed by a16z, Airbase is a fast-moving dual-use startup addressing a critical gap: advanced hardware (satellite constellations, Army UAS swarms, electronic warfare systems) is constrained by fragmented spectrum coordination databases and static PDFs. The Strategy & Operations role reports directly to the CEO and owns outcomes across go-to-market and business operations. This is a core position with real equity and significant scope. Go-to-Market & Business Development: - Plan and execute the federal sales pipeline: track opportunities, build capture plans, and map stakeholders, funding lines, and contract vehicles. - Shape contracting strategy across OTAs (Other Transaction Authorities), CSOs (Cooperative Security Objectives), SBIRs (Small Business Innovation Research), BPAs (Blanket Purchase Agreements), and GSA schedules. - Manage partnerships with other companies and contractors. - Own proposal operations end-to-end, from kickoff through submission, collaborating with engineering and domain experts. - Maintain active government programs: track deliverables, milestones, reporting, and customer relationships. Business Operations: - Manage contracts and legal operations: NDAs, teaming agreements, subcontracts, and government contract compliance (working with outside counsel). - Support finance operations: budgeting, forecasting, board and investor materials, monthly close with accountants. - Execute high-priority special projects for the CEO and build scalable processes as the team grows. The role is hybrid, based in New York City with regular travel to Washington, DC and customer sites. REQUIREMENTS: - Demonstrated experience in operations, strategy, business development, acquisition, finance, or military leadership, with clear ownership of outcomes. - Working knowledge of how the Department of Defense buys and operates. - Track record of building something from scratch or taking on scope well beyond your title. - Strong writing and structured thinking skills. - Excellent presentation and communication skills. - Must be eligible to obtain a US security clearance. NICE TO HAVE: - Military or government experience, especially in electronic warfare, intelligence, or acquisition. - JD or experience with contracts and government contract compliance. - Federal capture or proposal experience, or background at an early-stage defense tech company. - Engineering or technical background. - Active security clearance.
