Salary: USD 140,000 - 165,000 / annual
UnitedMasters Inc. is seeking a Strategy Director to join Translation, its award-winning creative solutions company. Translation helps ambitious brands harness the power of culture to solve their biggest challenges, combining expertise in culture, technology, and storytelling.
In this role, you will lead strategic initiatives across key client accounts and oversee the quality of audience, cultural, and brand insights. You'll identify the core problems behind business and brand challenges, quickly assessing the "why" and "how" of every brief. Your responsibilities include expertly guiding brand positioning, informing messaging and channel strategy, and leading day-to-day client and project engagements.
You will work closely with data strategists, context planners, account directors, and creatives to formulate and execute a comprehensive vision for brand assignments. You'll oversee junior team members' output to ensure it meets client goals and business objectives, while contributing to the company's intellectual capital around audience and cultural insights.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure quality, clarity, and accuracy of audience, cultural, and brand insights
- Identify core problems and define the strategic "why" and "how" for every brief
- Guide brand positioning and inform messaging and channel strategy
- Lead day-to-day client and project engagements across key accounts
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to formulate strategic vision
- Build positive relationships internally and externally
- Oversee junior team members' work quality
- Contribute to company's cultural and audience insights framework
Required qualifications:
- 6+ years of relevant experience in strategy and brand development
- Diverse background in strategic disciplines (consumer research, social strategy, communications planning)
- Passion for insights, innovation, and client/agency relationship growth
- Experience designing and executing consumer research studies
- Clear, persuasive communication and storytelling skills
- Excellent quantitative and research skills with proven data interpretation
- Self-motivated, thrives in fast-paced environments
- Deep passion for culture and consumer behavior
Preferred qualifications include creative thinking about insight discovery, cross-functional collaboration experience, quantitative/qualitative research methodology leadership, digital and social media ecosystem knowledge, and proven ability to translate African American consumer culture insights into impactful brand strategies.
The role requires four days in office and one day remote in New York.
