OpenAI's Platform Partnerships team is seeking a Strategic Partner Manager to own and expand a portfolio of the company's most strategic platform partnerships. This is a senior individual-contributor, 0-to-1 builder role with full-lifecycle ownership spanning strategy, negotiation, integration, launch, performance management, expansion, and renewal. You will treat each partnership as a business: develop multi-year expansion theses, align joint product roadmaps, structure commercial opportunities, and drive measurable outcomes across adoption, usage, revenue, distribution, and product impact. The role requires moving fluidly between multi-year partnership strategy and immediate execution, creating clarity where operating models are still emerging, and making sound decisions with incomplete information. Key responsibilities include owning a portfolio of strategic partnerships as businesses; developing expansion strategies and joint business plans connecting product roadmaps, commercial opportunities, and go-to-market motions; leading the full partnership lifecycle from evaluation through renewal; aligning cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Research, Go-to-Market, Legal, Finance, Marketing, Policy, Operations) around clear priorities and dependencies; building trusted relationships at executive and working levels; establishing operating cadences including roadmap reviews and business reviews; translating partner needs and market signals into product and ecosystem recommendations; defining success metrics and communicating progress through executive materials; resolving blockers with thoughtful pushback; and turning first-of-kind work into reusable playbooks. Ideal candidates bring 12+ years in strategic partnerships, product partnerships, business development, or product strategy; a track record of building and scaling complex platform partnerships from 0 to 1 with measurable outcomes; strong product and technical judgment to work credibly with engineering teams on APIs, integrations, developer platforms, and emerging products; experience structuring and negotiating complex commercial and technical agreements; data-driven prioritization and decision-making; clear communication across executive, technical, and operational audiences; ability to build trust and manage expectations across company boundaries; high agency and exceptional follow-through; and comfort operating in fast-changing environments with incomplete information. Experience with AI, developer platforms, APIs, agents, marketplaces, or technology ecosystems is a plus.
