OpenAI's Creator Partnerships team is seeking a Strategic Partner Manager to build and manage trusted relationships with creators, experts, and organizations exploring valuable uses of AI. This is a senior individual contributor role based in New York with a hybrid work model (three days in office per week).
You will originate, develop, and grow a portfolio of strategic external partnerships grounded in trust, usefulness, and measurable impact. As the primary relationship owner, you will guide opportunities from initial engagement through development, execution, and ongoing growth. Your responsibilities include understanding partners' goals, audiences, and business models; identifying meaningful applications of OpenAI's products; developing clear value propositions; and leading complex negotiations and partnerships to successful outcomes.
You will coordinate closely across Product, Marketing, Communications, Global Affairs, Research, Legal, and Safety teams, representing partner perspectives and sharing relevant insights internally. You'll evaluate opportunities based on alignment, authenticity, feasibility, potential impact, and risk, while managing multiple complex relationships and priorities at a high standard of execution.
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of experience in strategic partnerships, business development, or related fields, with an established external network and proven track record of building trusted relationships. You should have experience originating, negotiating, and growing complex partnerships; quickly understanding partner businesses and incentives; and identifying valuable opportunities. Strong judgment around trust, rights, safety, and AI-related sensitivities is essential. You communicate effectively with senior external partners and internal technical leaders, lead effectively across functions, and thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments while balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
Domestic and occasional international travel should be expected. Relocation assistance is available for new employees.
