Heron Power is a venture-backed startup building power electronics for grid modernization, focusing on converters (inverters and rectifiers) to connect large-scale renewables, storage, and loads. The company is transitioning from prototype to high-volume production of its Heron Link solid-state transformer platform.
As Staff/Senior Staff Global Supply Manager for Industrial Enclosures, you will lead strategic sourcing and supplier development for the industrial enclosures, fabricated metal components, and mechanical assemblies critical to the platform. You will own the complete sourcing strategy—from supplier selection and cost competitiveness to manufacturing readiness—for mechanical hardware that scales from prototype through mass production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define and own category strategies for industrial enclosures, sheet metal fabrication, and mechanical assemblies
- Achieve cost targets through should-cost modeling, manufacturing cost analysis, market intelligence, and supplier negotiations
- Lead RFx processes and negotiate commercial agreements (piece pricing, tooling/NRE, contractual terms)
- Partner with engineering teams on manufacturability, material selection, fabrication processes, and supplier capabilities
- Drive supplier readiness across prototype, pilot, and mass production builds
- Manage supplier risks (cost, quality, capacity, logistics, geopolitical exposure)
- Resolve supplier performance issues and develop corrective action plans with cross-functional teams
You will work closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, NPI, Finance, and Supply Chain leadership in a collaborative, first-principles-driven environment. The role requires strong commercial judgment, deep familiarity with mechanical fabrication supply chains, and the ability to engage directly with suppliers on capabilities, costs, capacity, and production challenges. Travel (domestic and international, often with short notice) is expected.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement supporting hardware manufacturing
- Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
- Deep category knowledge of industrial enclosures, sheet metal fabrication, welded structures, and/or complex mechanical assemblies
- Experience managing mechanical fabrication suppliers, including cost analysis, tooling, manufacturing capabilities, and production ramp
- Strong negotiation, should-cost analysis, and contract management skills
- Experience partnering with engineering, manufacturing, finance, and NPI teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, often with short notice
NICE TO HAVES:
- Experience sourcing industrial electrical cabinets, power electronics enclosures, switchgear housings, or similar equipment
- Knowledge of sheet metal forming, stamping, machining, welding, coatings, and structural fabrication
- Familiarity with NEMA/IP enclosure requirements, thermal management, and environmental protection
- Prior supplier development experience supporting power electronics, energy storage, EVs, or industrial equipment
- Strong data analysis and visualization skills (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
