Harvey is an AI platform transforming legal and professional services by combining frontier agentic AI, enterprise-grade infrastructure, and deep domain expertise. Founded in 2022 and backed by world-class investors, the company is scaling rapidly and defining a new category in real time.
As Staff Web Engineer, you will be the senior technical leader for Harvey's web platform, owning the architecture, data foundations, and systems integration behind harvey.ai and all web-facing surfaces. You'll lead a small, front-end-leaning team and set technical standards across the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own end-to-end architecture of the web platform: Next.js/Vercel application, Sanity content layer, and backend services and APIs, with focus on reliability, performance, and scalability.
- Design and build data foundations and integration patterns connecting the website to Harvey's marketing, analytics, CRM, and GTM systems, supporting both real-time and batch workloads.
- Establish automation, CI/CD, preview/deploy tooling, and robust automated testing to reduce operational toil and increase team velocity.
- Set observability standards including structured logging, tracing, Core Web Vitals, performance budgets, and alerting.
- Lead the team's application of AI and ML to web workflows, from content operations to personalization to internal tooling, acting as a bridge between product and web engineering.
- Partner with Security and Infrastructure to harden the platform without compromising developer experience.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the team through code review, design review, and architectural guidance.
You bring 8+ years of web development experience with deep back-end and systems expertise, and a proven track record owning technical architecture at staff level scope. You have strong command of the modern web stack (React/Next.js, TypeScript, server-side rendering) paired with genuine back-end depth (Node, Python, or comparable). You've architected and operated headless CMS platforms at scale, built and operated reliable production systems with CI/CD and observability tooling, and have fluency with data infrastructure fundamentals. Experience integrating AI/ML into production web experiences and demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and operate autonomously in small teams are essential. Nice-to-haves include Vercel platform experience, marketing/GTM systems integration (HubSpot, Salesforce, Segment), SEO and web performance engineering, and prior experience as the first or most senior engineer on a web platform team.
