Okta is seeking an experienced Staff UI Software Engineer to join the First Party Apps Platform team within the Access Essentials - Core Product organization. This team develops Okta's secure web experiences for end-user authentication and access, including the Okta Sign-in Widget, End User SSO Dashboard, and Okta Browser Plugin—products used by millions of users daily. In this role, you will lead the design and development of complex, high-performance frontend features using React and TypeScript. You'll collaborate closely with product managers, UI/UX designers, and backend engineers to translate requirements into robust solutions. Key responsibilities include writing clean, modular, well-tested code; optimizing applications for speed, scalability, and responsiveness across devices and browsers; and contributing to the evolution of frontend architecture for long-term maintainability. You will participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality, and proactively identify and address technical debt and performance bottlenecks. The role emphasizes staying current with frontend development trends, evaluating new tools and approaches, and championing a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within the team. Required qualifications include 5+ years of professional frontend development experience with a strong focus on complex web applications. You must have deep expertise in React (hooks, component lifecycle, state management), proficiency in TypeScript, and solid understanding of modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3. Experience with frontend tooling (Webpack, Babel, Vite, Yarn), RESTful API integration, testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright), Git version control, responsive design, and accessible web interfaces is essential. Strong problem-solving and debugging skills are required.
