Salary: USD 160,000 - 190,000 / annual
Archer Technologies is an aerospace company building all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for sustainable air mobility. The company is seeking an experienced Staff Test Engineer to join the Flight Controls System team, focusing on verification and testing of the fly-by-wire flight control system and its integration with avionics, power distribution, and engine systems.
In this role, you will design and execute requirements-based tests for the eVTOL Flight Control System, ensuring compliance with FAA, DoD, and other aircraft certification standards. You will gain comprehensive understanding of the flight control system architecture and detailed subsystem design, then correlate test results with analyses and predictions. Key responsibilities include evaluating test data to confirm component performance, preparing technical reports detailing results, and ensuring test scope meets aircraft certification requirements.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional team members across avionics, power systems, and propulsion to validate integrated system behavior. The role requires strong technical expertise in requirements-based testing methodologies (ARP4754A, DO-178C), requirements management tools (Polarion, DOORS), and familiarity with aerospace standards and certification processes.
Required qualifications include 8+ years in a related field, a degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline. You must have hands-on experience with requirements-based testing, excellent technical writing and communication skills, and familiarity with Agile/SCRUM methodologies. Bonus skills include continuous integration tools (TeamCity, Jenkins), data acquisition software (Python, MATLAB, NI), and knowledge of integrated system communication protocols (ARINC429, CAN, Ethernet, RS485).
