Oura is seeking a Staff Technology Portfolio Manager to establish and operate a centralized portfolio management system for IT's ~100 concurrent programs across six teams: ERP, supply chain technology, commercial systems, CX technology, workplace technology, and enterprise architecture & AI.
This is a hands-on, individual contributor role with no direct reports. You will be the first person hired specifically to solve IT's visibility and governance challenges—today, there is no single source of truth for program status, ownership, or risk across teams.
Key responsibilities:
- Build a single system of record for IT's portfolio with shared, trusted definitions of program "health" that replace six different versions of the truth
- Develop comprehensive understanding of all ~100 programs: owner, status, target date, blockers, and business impact, sourced from teams' existing artifacts rather than creating parallel reporting burden
- Run weekly portfolio reviews as a decision-forcing forum: write pre-reads, push open items to closure, and follow up until risks are resolved
- Map cross-team dependencies to surface quiet coupling as managed risk rather than surprise failures
- Own intake governance so new work requests receive deliberate trade-off analysis and real answers within one week
- Partner with IT Planning & Delivery leads and program managers to build a program office people want to participate in
- Use AI as your default operating method—build reporting, dependency analysis, and risk-detection workflows with LLM assistants as thought partners
This role is hybrid with a preference for San Francisco-based candidates but is open to remote US applicants.
Requirements:
- 10+ years running programs or portfolios in a technology organization with real complexity, competing stakeholders, and ambiguity
- Demonstrated experience building a portfolio system of record from scratch or rebuilding one after failure in an organization running many concurrent, interdependent workstreams
- Habit of using LLM assistants and agents (e.g., Claude) as default working method for solving problems, building reports, analyzing dependencies, and surfacing emerging risk, with sound judgment about when AI isn't appropriate and discipline about verifying output
- Strong PMO tooling fluency with track record of using AI to automate reporting and analysis work previously done manually
- Enterprise IT fluency (ERP, identity, integrations, ITSM, compliance) sufficient to read status updates and identify real risks
- Clear, compressed executive writing ability—can distill ~100 programs into one actionable page without losing critical details
- Comfort with ambiguity and willingness to flag risks proactively
Nice to have:
- Jira, Confluence, and AI app-building platforms (e.g., Lovable) to prototype lightweight tools
- Experience at companies that scaled through step changes where process was built while delivery continued
