Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Staff Supplier Integration Manager to lead global supply chain strategy for ARC, the company's next-generation fusion power plant. This is a senior individual contributor role reporting to executive leadership, responsible for creating and executing integrated supply chain strategies that span design, R&D, business development, and government affairs. Key responsibilities include: - Partner with Chief Engineer and R&D teams to drive value engineering, cost reductions, and technology selection for fusion-specific hardware - Develop and execute category and commodity strategies including spend analysis, benchmarking, cost modeling, and supplier selection in a global context - Conduct global supplier searches and build complex, senior-level supplier relationships; lead negotiation of long-term, high-value agreements - Serve as the senior external face of CFS to supplier executives during negotiations and strategic interactions - Advise C-Suite, Supply Chain, Open Innovation, and Government Affairs on M&A opportunities, joint ventures, and partnerships to strengthen supply chain readiness - Maintain deep expertise in the fusion industry landscape, tracking major and minor players and market movements - Support techno-economic model development and provide continuous feedback loops on cost and LCOE reduction levers - Conduct supplier business reviews, site surveys, and business evaluations; manage corrective actions and escalations - Prepare briefing materials, technical reports, and public-facing presentations for internal and external stakeholders - Support investor relations, business development, and corporate finance teams with queries and analysis - Manage organizational effectiveness through continuous improvement and functional transformation The role requires deep technical sourcing expertise and the ability to communicate fluently with plasma physicists, engineers, and material scientists. You will work in uncertain, low-TRL (Technology Readiness Level) environments, exercising curiosity and creativity to identify emerging technologies and trends. You must be comfortable speaking directly to executive leadership about how design and technical decisions translate into hardware supply, cost, and risk, and capable of marshaling internal resources and consensus. Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field - 15+ years of experience managing supply chains in raw materials, metals, machined components, welding and fabrication, and/or contracted assemblies - High finance acumen to understand company financial structures and strategize contract incentives - Extensive technical knowledge of contracting for long lead-time items based on project milestones - Experience sourcing for both R&D (prototypes) and ongoing production - Ability to travel 25–50% of the time, including to remote sites - Strong communication skills, exceptional organizational and analytical abilities - Proven ability to drive complex projects with minimal oversight - Ability to work effectively independently and in cross-functional teams - Exquisite attention to detail and ability to map complex interconnected systems - Reliable work ethic with persistence in the face of uncertainty and setbacks - Adaptability to startup environments with capability to take initiative and solve ambiguous problems - Proven writing and communication ability for broad external audiences Bonus: Previous experience with M&A, joint venture formation, or strategic partnership framework development. Must-have: Ability to perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods; willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call regularly; ability to work in facilities with industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics.
