Relativity Space is building rockets and advanced manufacturing systems to serve commercial and scientific space missions. The Interplanetary Sciences Program aims to make planetary research faster, more affordable, and more capable by rethinking how science missions are designed, built, and operated.
As a Staff Structures Engineer, you will own the end-to-end design, development, analysis, build, and verification of primary and secondary spacecraft structures from concept through flight. You will be directly responsible for delivering flight-ready hardware that meets mission performance, reliability, and cost objectives.
This is a hands-on role requiring a highly motivated engineer who thrives in ambiguity, executes with autonomy, and takes ownership across the full lifecycle—from early architecture and trade studies through prototype testing to final flight qualification.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the design, analysis, and development of spacecraft structures from concept through flight
- Perform structural and dynamic analysis (FEA, hand calculations, margin analysis) to validate designs across all mission phases
- Conduct trade studies and architecture assessments to optimize performance, mass, cost, and manufacturability
- Develop and execute test plans for structural verification and qualification
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (propulsion, avionics, mission design, manufacturing) to integrate structures into overall spacecraft systems
- Establish and maintain structural design standards, processes, and documentation
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team technical growth
