Justworks is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Engineering team in New York. In this role, you will leverage your expertise to own and lead the implementation of features in large-scale, distributed applications, driving long-term growth for the company.
You will be responsible for providing crucial technical expertise, introducing new best practices, and driving consistency across teams. Your scope includes designing and executing end-to-end systems, working directly with client stakeholders and internal delivery teams. You'll represent technical leadership in discussions with other leaders and cross-functional partners, and partner with delivery and executive stakeholders to scope, design, and lead implementation of AI-driven solutions.
Key responsibilities include designing system architecture from the ground up, writing code, and mentoring a small team of engineers. You'll own the technical direction of evergreen initiatives, lead complex projects that benefit the entire organization, and establish technical standards and best practices. You'll spend significant time directly assisting and leveling up other engineers across multiple teams, identifying risks and dependencies, and enhancing testing, monitoring, and continuous deployment infrastructure.
You will work primarily in Ruby on Rails and JavaScript/React, but may employ other technologies where appropriate. Success in this role requires good judgment, resourcefulness, and the ability to think critically about problems, identify patterns, and develop mitigation strategies. You'll foster external relationships to build the company's employment brand and work collaboratively with engineers, product managers, and designers.
