Robinhood is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the technical vision and execution of its Web3 initiatives, including Robinhood Chain, the Tokenization Engine, and the Robinhood Wallet. The role is based in Menlo Park, CA or New York, NY with hybrid work (in-person 3+ days/week).
You will own the design, build, and operation of core services powering these platforms while remaining deeply hands-on with production code and complex implementations. Key responsibilities include setting engineering quality standards, mentoring engineers to raise the technical bar, driving technical excellence across reliability, correctness, observability, and security, and influencing platform direction across adjacent teams.
You will also improve developer practices, lead adoption of AI tooling to maximize engineering output, and drive alignment across diverse stakeholders on complex technical initiatives.
Required qualifications: 10+ years building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production; expertise in backend development (Go, Python, Java) with cloud-native architecture knowledge; 3+ years leading large-scale technical initiatives spanning multiple teams or complex systems; strong system design and data modeling fundamentals; proven ability to simplify complex problems and drive stakeholder alignment; demonstrated mentoring and engineering leadership experience.
