Jasper is a marketing agents platform that helps enterprises orchestrate AI agents to execute marketing work at scale. The company is trusted by hundreds of enterprises, including nearly 20% of the Fortune 500, and has shifted to serving enterprise customers with sophisticated governance, compliance, and control requirements. You will own the architecture and modernization of Jasper's governance domain end-to-end, including authentication, roles and permissions, organizations, billing, and related systems. This is the backbone of every customer interaction and requires deep technical leadership to refactor toward composability, stability, and scalability for the next generation of enterprise workflows. Key responsibilities include: architecting and modernizing the governance domain for scale, security, and extensibility; leading refactoring of foundational backend systems toward an AI-native architecture; setting technical direction for authentication, authorization, and organizational modeling; partnering with product and engineering leadership to translate enterprise requirements into scalable platform capabilities; mentoring and elevating the engineering team; and operating hands-on 70–80% of the time writing and reviewing critical-path code. You bring heavy backend experience with a track record of owning complex, business-critical systems at enterprise scale. Deep expertise in authentication/authorization, multi-tenant systems, or billing platforms is essential—you've designed these systems, not just maintained them. You have strong architectural judgment, balancing pragmatism with long-term platform thinking. You're a technical IC leader who has mentored engineers, raised code quality bars, and driven technical direction without managing people. You want to deepen your craft as both an individual contributor and technical voice, not transition to pure architecture or management. Nice-to-have qualifications include direct experience in the governance problem space, billing systems and usage-based pricing models, building for enterprise buyers (SSO/SAML, SCIM, audit logs, compliance frameworks), and familiarity with AI-native product development. AI fluency with working understanding of LLMs, agents, tokens, credits, context windows, RAG, and data governance applied to backend engineering is valued. You'll work closely with product, platform, and Forward Deployed Engineering teams in the EPD org, which owns application surfaces and foundational backend systems. The broader engineering organization is investing heavily in AI-native architecture, and this role is central to making that vision real for critical systems.
