Salary: CAD 160,000 - 220,000 / annual
Okta's Streaming Foundations team is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design and build critical data pipeline infrastructure supporting event streaming, messaging, and analytics at scale. This is a high-impact technical leadership role within the platform engineering organization.
You will set technical direction for the team, influence the engineering roadmap for streaming capabilities, and design complex systems for data-intensive use cases. Key responsibilities include researching and championing new technologies and architectural patterns to solve strategic challenges, leading cross-functional initiatives across multiple teams, and improving operational posture through observability, reliability, and scalability design.
You will mentor senior engineers and act as a technical leader across the broader engineering organization, collaborating with product teams and stakeholders to ensure technical alignment and successful execution.
Required qualifications: 7+ years of software development experience in fast-paced, agile environments. Strong hands-on experience designing, developing, and tuning highly scalable, event-driven systems. Solid understanding of database fundamentals and experience with event streaming technologies such as Kafka. Proficiency with Golang or Java preferred.
Desirable experience includes front-end technologies (TypeScript, React), cloud providers (AWS, Azure), container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker), and familiarity with Identity and Access Management (IAM) domain.
