As a Staff Software Engineer on the Spend Management team, you will be the technical anchor for the platform that enables healthcare practices to confidently manage their spending on the Zocdoc Marketplace. You'll lead the architecture and development of flexible, self-service spend controls that move providers from manual, support-mediated budget administration to a fully self-managed product with complete visibility into spend and ROI.
This is a money-moving system where correctness, reliability, and trust are paramount. Your work directly impacts provider trust, marketplace spend, and practices' ability to maximize their return on Zocdoc.
Key responsibilities include:
- Full ownership of the technical strategy for the self-service spend management platform
- Architecting and writing code for key roadmap initiatives: flexible budget controls, Budget Settings experience, and cross-channel spend strategy
- Building relationships with engineers, Product, Design, and Analytics teams to refine and execute the product vision
- Safeguarding accuracy and reliability of spend tracking, budget enforcement, and system guardrails
- Mentoring engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and pairing sessions
- Integrating generative AI tools to enable future capabilities like spend recommendations and AI-assisted budget insights
You thrive on building systems where accuracy matters, own problems end-to-end from design to launch, and are passionate about mentoring others. You have 2+ years of meaningful experience with .NET and AWS (or equivalent cloud technology), strong full-stack capabilities, and an entrepreneurial mindset. You're a superb communicator who believes in keeping stakeholders informed and treats all people with dignity and respect.
