Anduril Industries is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the software engineering efforts for the Space Special Programs team, which develops advanced spacecraft and space systems for military applications. This is a hybrid individual contributor and team leadership role focused on the full lifecycle of flight software, ground test software, and ground station software across embedded and application layers.
You will architect software systems spanning deeply embedded design, host-side applications, computer vision, FPGA interfacing, RF communication, machine learning, and control algorithms. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing flight-critical software with modern space-flight standards (fault detection, error checking, data redundancy), leading rapid prototyping and qualification activities, and mentoring a growing engineering team.
The role requires expertise across multiple domains: embedded systems programming, real-time operating systems, hardware-software integration, data protocols, machine learning implementation in resource-constrained environments, and command & control system integration. You will work cross-functionally with product, engineering, sales, logistics, operations, and mission success teams to develop, test, deploy, and operate space capabilities in challenging operational environments.
As the software development expert on the team, you will contribute to system and mission design concepts while growing team capabilities in embedded software, computer vision, RF systems, and algorithm implementation. The position is based in Chantilly, VA, supporting Anduril's mission to bring cutting-edge autonomy, AI, and advanced technology to U.S. and allied military capabilities.
