Rad AI's platform is used by thousands of radiologists daily, supporting one-third of radiology groups and nearly 50% of all medical imaging in the U.S.
As Staff Software Engineer for Reporting Integrations, you will own the technical direction of the integration platform that connects Rad AI's reporting software with PACS systems, worklists, EHRs, and other clinical tools. Radiologists work across multiple applications simultaneously, and your role ensures seamless real-time context synchronization across all of them.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and build real-time context synchronization integrations, primarily FHIRcast alongside file-based (XML/JSON) integrations with PACS, worklists, and EHRs
- Architect a flexible, evolvable integration platform where new integrations are composed from reusable building blocks rather than rebuilt from scratch
- Shape product direction by bringing an integrations-first engineering perspective early in the design process
- Extend the platform into new categories of integration partners: non-clinical analytics tools, CDI tools, and clinical AI tools that generate draft reports
- Collaborate with internal teams, customers, external vendors, and integration partners to align on integration design and roadmap
- Partner directly with customers and vendors on calls, map clinical workflows and edge cases, and support go-lives and production escalations
- Coordinate connectivity for cloud-delivered integrations by working with hospital IT, security, and identity teams on firewall access, certificates, and SSO
- Drive standardization by converting one-off customer-specific integrations into reusable connectors
- Own reliability and observability for integrations: build logging, tracing, and staging/E2E testing to diagnose issues without re-engaging customers
- Debug and resolve integration issues end-to-end across systems you don't control
- Mentor other engineers and document hard-won knowledge about vendor quirks and workflow scenarios
You are a backend-leaning full-stack engineer passionate about healthcare integrations. You have expertise in TypeScript, Node, React, or Electron, with experience building and operating production services in cloud environments. You have practical hands-on experience with healthcare context-sharing technologies like FHIRcast, SMART on FHIR, or FHIR standards. You have a track record of shipping and supporting production integrations with third-party clinical systems and thinking at the platform level to build extensible frameworks. Strong communication skills enable you to run technical calls with customers, vendors, and partners to diagnose problems and propose standardized solutions.
