Fanatics is a global digital sports platform serving over 100 million sports fans through commerce, collectibles, and betting & gaming. The Fanatics Core team builds the shared technical foundations—identity, payments, loyalty, wallet, data, and platform—that power all Fanatics products.
As a Staff Software Engineer on the Promotions Platform team, you will lead the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of software that enables customers to engage with promotional systems and earn rewards across the Fanatics ecosystem. You'll work on next-generation promotional tools serving a massive, global user base.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead one or more engineering teams developing, testing, and deploying high-quality, scalable, extensible software
- Clarify requirements and assist with technical estimates
- Participate in on-call rotation to troubleshoot production issues
- Identify and resolve root causes; mitigate immediate risk
- Remove technical bottlenecks and make informed trade-off decisions between short-term and long-term approaches
- Contribute to team planning and design discussions; drive best practices and delivery speed
- Lead code reviews and mentor other engineers
- Simplify code and resolve architecture deficiencies
- Impact software architecture, dependencies, performance, and business value
- Advise technology leaders, product teams, and stakeholders on technology decisions
- Develop deep understanding of industry, product, and roadmap
- Occasional travel to Fanatics offices and conferences
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years building highly scalable, fault-tolerant systems
- Broad understanding of design approaches and system-wide debugging
- Demonstrated mentoring experience
- Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
- Agile/SCRUM methodology familiarity
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Thrives in fast-paced, entrepreneurial, hyper-growth environments
