As a Staff Software Engineer in Production Engineering, you will be a technical leader responsible for designing, building, and operating Harvey's core compute and networking infrastructure, Kubernetes platform, workflow orchestration systems, and production infrastructure foundations. This role sits at the intersection of infrastructure engineering and technical leadership, directly enabling Harvey's engineering teams to move quickly while maintaining reliability at scale. Key responsibilities include: designing and operating production infrastructure powering Harvey's AI workloads; driving technical direction across compute, networking, Kubernetes, and production operations; leading complex cross-functional initiatives to improve reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency; partnering with Product Engineering, Security, AI Infrastructure, and Platform teams to translate requirements into resilient solutions; establishing reusable patterns and paved paths for safe service deployment; and raising the engineering bar through design reviews, documentation, and mentorship. On the infrastructure foundation side, you'll build and operate global compute and network infrastructure ensuring high availability and performance; develop capacity models and fleet lifecycle automation; operate and improve the Kubernetes platform including cluster provisioning, upgrades, and networking; drive cost efficiency through resource optimization; build secure infrastructure foundations with IAM, network isolation, and compliance controls; develop Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks using Terraform or Pulumi; improve observability and incident response; and participate in on-call rotations. You bring 10+ years of software, infrastructure, SRE, or production engineering experience with deep hands-on expertise operating large-scale cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP. You have strong production Kubernetes experience including cluster lifecycle management and networking, experience building and operating distributed systems, proficiency with infrastructure automation tools, strong understanding of compute infrastructure and capacity planning, experience designing observability systems, and solid infrastructure security knowledge. You have a proven track record driving complex technical initiatives and influencing decisions without formal authority, excellent communication skills, and a systems-thinking mindset.
