Snowflake is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for Product Security to join the Security Foundations team. This is a high-impact technical leadership role focused on embedding security into the core of how Snowflake builds products.
You will set technical direction for product security across multiple engineering teams, influencing architecture decisions before code is written rather than reviewing after the fact. Key responsibilities include designing and building security-critical services and frameworks that other teams adopt as defaults, leading threat modeling and security design reviews for complex high-risk systems, and partnering with product and engineering leaders to embed secure-by-design principles into the development lifecycle.
You will investigate and drive resolution of the highest-severity security issues, then eliminate the underlying class of problem. You'll mentor senior and mid-level engineers to raise the security engineering bar across the organization, own initiatives end-to-end from problem framing through delivery and cross-team alignment, and evaluate emerging security tooling including AI-assisted analysis and automation.
Required qualifications include 10+ years of software engineering experience with significant focus on product or application security, deep expertise designing and building secure large-scale distributed systems or platforms, and a strong track record of driving cross-team technical decisions. You should have hands-on experience with threat modeling, secure design review, and remediation of complex vulnerability classes, proficiency in modern programming languages (Java, Go, Rust, C++, Python), and ability to frame ambiguous security problems and drive stakeholder alignment. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required.
Bonus qualifications include experience securing cloud-native or multi-tenant SaaS platforms, familiarity with cryptography, identity and access management, or data security at scale, experience applying AI/GenAI workflows to security analysis, contributions to open-source security projects, and experience partnering with detection, incident response, or offensive security teams.
