Salary: USD 200,000 - 275,000 / annual
Peregrine Technologies is seeking a Staff Product Security Engineer to lead security architecture and strategy across the organization. Backed by leading Silicon Valley investors, Peregrine serves public safety organizations, state and local governments, federal agencies, and private-sector institutions with an AI-enabled platform that transforms siloed data into operational intelligence. The company supports hundreds of customers across 30+ states and two countries, serving over 125 million people.
In this role, you will have broad ownership across the technology stack and make architecture decisions with outsized, multi-year impact. You will take on definitive leadership in embedding security throughout the entire product development lifecycle. Key responsibilities include building scalable, secure-by-default frameworks foundational to infrastructure; identifying and resolving emerging security risks with mitigation strategies; defining security architecture across the platform focusing on authentication, authorization, data protection, and software supply chain security; collaborating with product and engineering teams on security best practices; and growing engineering talent through hands-on mentorship while fostering strong security values.
The technical stack includes Python, Django, Celery, Airflow, and Kafka on the backend; React, Redux, and Mapbox on the frontend; PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch for data storage; machine learning models in Bedrock and Sagemaker; and AWS, Pulumi, Terraform, and Kubernetes for infrastructure.
Required qualifications: 10+ years designing secure architecture frameworks and establishing engineering-wide security standards; deep knowledge of identity and access management, secret management, applied cryptography, secure system design, and cloud security; strong development background in Python; proven success coaching and developing senior engineers; demonstrated technical execution and leadership; exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; and ability to work on-site at San Francisco or New York office.
