Salary: USD 405,000 - 485,000 / annual
Anthropic is seeking a Staff+ Software Engineer to lead the Platform Distribution team, which is transforming how Claude API is deployed across cloud providers and on Anthropic's own infrastructure. The role spans two major workstreams: (1) Claude Platform on the Clouds—making Claude a best-in-class offering on AWS, GCP, and Azure by bringing the API, control plane, and Anthropic features through cloud providers' platforms, including deep technical integrations at scale; and (2) Enterprise Readiness—shipping next-generation enterprise features including key management, encryption, audit APIs, usage visibility, access control, and international data residency to support regulated customers and enable scaling.
You will own large-scale infrastructure systems and lead ambiguous, cross-team technical projects from design through production independently. This is a product-focused platform role requiring collaboration across Infrastructure, Systems, Networking, Databases, Inference, and other core teams, as well as partnerships with cloud service providers.
Ideal candidates have a minimum of 8 years of practical backend or platform engineering experience building scalable distributed systems, ideally at tech lead level or equivalent. You should have hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure) at scale and/or Enterprise SaaS experience in multi-tenant contexts, with background in security, compliance, or data residency for regulated or sovereign cloud environments. Proficiency in Python, Go, Rust, or similar systems languages is required. You take full ownership from design through deployment and operations, and you care deeply about building robust, scalable solutions that are easy for customers to adopt.
