Pomelo Care is a virtual medical practice focused on women and children's health, offering care across pregnancy, postpartum, pediatrics, menopause, and perimenopause. This Staff Software Engineer role serves as the technical lead for patient experience, owning how patients interact with Pomelo from enrollment through their entire care journey.
You will lead the technical direction of mobile development strategy and patient-facing apps, shaping the experience for tens of thousands of patients. Key responsibilities include rapidly prototyping and shipping features in mobile and web apps alongside design and product teams, using AI tools to accelerate development and test engagement-improving ideas. You'll help steer product direction for patient support and retention during the critical first month, directly engaging with patients to translate real needs into features.
The role involves mentoring junior engineers, raising team standards, and establishing technical architecture patterns and development practices for patient-facing products. You'll tackle problems around proactive patient engagement, personalization that moves health outcomes, building habits for early care-seeking, and maintaining engagement without constant clinical intervention.
Tech stack includes Expo, React Native, React, TypeScript, Kotlin, and SQL. You'll work in a startup environment with full-stack flexibility and close collaboration with product and design teams. The role reports to a Senior Staff Engineering Manager and is open to candidates across the continental US with full remote flexibility.
