Temporal Technologies is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Infrastructure Team with a focus on Observability—both internal tooling and customer-facing capabilities. This is a mission-critical role on a team driving productivity and reliability across Temporal's developer platform and core systems.
In this role, you will lead the end-to-end software development lifecycle for observability features, from requirements gathering and design through implementation, deployment, and operational support. You'll design and build multi-component distributed systems operating at scale, with responsibility for technical excellence, performance, and reliability. Key responsibilities include leading feature design with stakeholder feedback, documenting design choices and operational knowledge, and ensuring comprehensive test coverage and production readiness.
You will own significant technical domains within observability, investigating issues methodically to identify root causes, and making informed tradeoffs between performance and reliability at scale. The role includes participation in the team's on-call rotation and deep expertise in Temporal's architecture and ecosystem.
Collaboration is central: you'll mentor fellow engineers, participate in design reviews, and share design principles for building reliable systems. You'll develop expert-level knowledge of your assigned domain while understanding the needs of both internal developers and external customers, leveraging that insight to drive product development.
