Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the delivery of software integrated into next-generation autonomous maritime systems. The Maritime Division is building a coherent system-of-systems including products like Dive-XL, Dive-LD, Copperhead, and Seabed Sentry—ultra-long-range, full-ocean-depth autonomous underwater vessels executing billion-dollar contracts and Robot-as-a-Service operations. In this role, you will act as a technical leader and extremely senior individual contributor, driving end-to-end outcome ownership across autonomy, simulation, data processing, payload integration, and command-and-control software. You will own customer success by designing and delivering multi-year, multi-stakeholder software roadmaps spanning multiple teams. Key responsibilities include: - Architecting and designing robotic systems software, including hardware selection, compute, storage, network architecture, and service orchestration - Leveraging internal product and program-specific engineering teams to rapidly deliver capability beyond current platform scope - Partnering with external teams on interfacing requirements between diverse systems - Contributing to company-wide roadmaps for software inputs to autonomous systems - Leading teams developing on-platform and off-platform software using varied technologies - Acting as a subject matter expert for software engineering in multi-stakeholder environments - Driving design and implementation of development processes, including full lifecycle testing - Creating test and simulation fixtures with software- and hardware-in-the-loop capabilities - Supporting vehicle manufacturing and deployment - Mentoring Senior Software Engineers from diverse backgrounds - Traveling up to 20% to co-locate with end-users and teams Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience; leadership experience in high-performing technology organizations; extensive professional software engineering experience; strong systems and application programming skills; experience troubleshooting remotely deployed software; and the capacity to own entire software systems holistically through design, implementation, operation, and sustainment.
