Datadog is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Logs organization and lead the evolution of how customers ingest, query, and extract insights from logs data. This is a high-impact technical leadership role where you'll drive complex initiatives across ingestion pipelines, search infrastructure, and intelligent log management capabilities while exploring the intersection of AI and distributed systems.
Key responsibilities include partnering with Product Managers to translate ambiguous requirements into impactful solutions, leading technical strategy and system design for log query performance and ingestion at scale, and prototyping new capabilities in AI-powered log management, security, business operations, and advanced query features. You'll mentor engineers across levels and contribute to building a high-performing, collaborative team culture.
You bring deep expertise architecting and scaling backend systems with a focus on data-intensive or distributed infrastructure. You thrive in ambiguous environments, combining drive, curiosity, and pragmatic decision-making. You have a track record of partnering effectively with Product Managers and customers to define product direction and ship impactful features. Your expertise includes debugging complex systems, optimizing performance across real-time data pipelines, and leveraging AI tools in your engineering practice. You lead by example, mentor others, and are motivated to push the boundaries of how AI can improve software engineering practices.
