Ripple is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to pioneer and scale Ripple Treasury's liquidity platform. The Liquidity Management team is undergoing a major modernization initiative, rebuilding enterprise treasury systems from the ground up with a modern UX, cloud-native architecture, and support for both traditional fiat and digital assets.
You will serve as a technical force multiplier, driving architectural decisions that balance scalability, maintainability, and rapid deployment. Key responsibilities include:
**Technical Leadership & Architecture:**
- Drive platform architectural decisions and establish technical standards that enable faster feature shipping with fewer defects
- Lead technical design reviews and provide constructive feedback that elevates team thinking
- Identify and eliminate technical debt strategically, creating roadmaps that improve developer velocity and system reliability
**Team Enablement & Mentorship:**
- Mentor mid-level and senior engineers into technical leadership roles
- Break down complex, ambiguous problems into actionable work across the team
- Establish coding standards, review practices, and testing strategies
- Champion engineering methodologies including observability, incident response, and production excellence
- Share enthusiasm for tech trends and lead technical design evaluations
**Strategic Vision & Agility:**
- Anticipate future scalability challenges (e.g., 10x transaction volume growth)
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption timing
- Drive adoption of modern engineering practices that improve developer experience
- Lead blameless retrospectives that turn incidents into learning opportunities
**Ownership & Accountability:**
- Own critical systems end-to-end from design through production support
- Take responsibility for production reliability and proactively prevent incidents
- Step into ambiguous situations and drive resolution without explicit direction
- Make tough technical trade-off decisions and communicate reasoning clearly
**What You'll Work On:**
- Core platform modernization with modern UX and cloud-native architecture
- Real-time cash/liquidity data pipelines providing treasury professionals transparency across banks, accounts, currencies, and legal entities worldwide
- Digital asset support integrating both traditional fiat and digital assets
- AI features including machine learning models for the GSmart AI engine that predicts cash flows and enables real-time account balancing
**Requirements:**
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
- 3+ years working on complex, business-critical systems in production
- Experience working on products with significant scale
- Strong communication skills and experience in cross-functional projects
- Track record of delivering multi-quarter projects requiring cross-team coordination
- Led technical designs implemented by teams of 3+ engineers
- Made architectural decisions with lasting impact on system capabilities
- Established technical patterns adopted across teams
- Proficiency with at least one major cloud platform (preferably Azure)
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Understanding of infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipeline design
- Knowledge of observability: logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting strategies
- Experience with microservices deployment patterns and service mesh concepts
- Deep expertise with C#/.NET
- Expert-level relational database knowledge (SQL Server ideally), including query optimization, indexing strategies, and data modeling
- Deep experience building large-scale multi-tenant enterprise applications
- Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and understanding alternative patterns (GraphQL, gRPC, webhooks)
- Deep knowledge building applications using React, TypeScript, and JavaScript
